How long is the wait in line?

It depends. In September and early October, wait times are typically minimal. By mid October and as it gets closer to Halloween, wait times are much more lengthy—sometimes up to 2 hours. For those looking to expedite their evening, Fast Pass Admission and Front of the Line Admission tickets are available. Click the button o purchase.

Where are you located? How do I get there?

We are located on the Ohio River in Newport, KY right in front of Newport on the Levee. The address is 101 Riverboat Row, Newport, KY 41071.

Do you charge for parking?

No. Limited parking is free in the lot adjacent to the boat (enter Riverboat Row from Columbia Street). Additional parking is readily available at Newport on the Levee and other adjacent pay lots as well as metered street parking.

Is there an age limit or recommendation for the USS Nightmare?

No. However, due to the graphic nature of the attraction, it is not recommended for small children. For those looking for a less intense experience, we offer a special Lights On Matinee show. Click the button or more information on this special event.

Is the ticket area covered?

Part of the entrance ticket line is covered, but on busier nights, the line will extend to uncovered areas as well.

Once we've paid for admission are we able to go through again?

No. However, many nights we do offer a special re-entry ticket for a second trip through at a discounted rate. Ask one of our crew members when you exit if we are offering reentry that night.

How long is the Tour?

Tours of the USS Nightmare are some of the longest in the industry. They typically range from 25-30 minutes, but the pace is totally up to you.

Is it really scary?

I’m plan on bringing my child. What happens if they get too scared?

If a child (or adult) gets too scared, they may use one of the many marked exits throughout the haunted dredge boat. However, please remember ticket sales are final and there are no refunds.

Can I wear sandals inside the USS Nightmare?

Yes. However, it is NOT recommended.

Are tours handicapped accessible?

Yes. Most standard wheelchairs can navigate through the haunted dredge boat. Larger motorized wheelchairs and special chairs cannot be accommodated due to their length and/or width. NOTE: We will provide a crew member to accompany you and your group to provide assistance as needed. Some areas of the tour will be inaccessible via a wheelchair. We will provide a bypass around these areas.If you have special needs, feel free to contact us and we will try to make arrangements for you so that you can enjoy the USS Nightmare.

Is there security?

Yes. Security staff is present and closed circuit cameras are monitored.

Are there any COVID restrictions?

We recommend that customers follow current CDC guidelines for stopping the spread of COVID. It is highly recommended that individuals wear a mask while indoors.

Can we be denied access to the USS Nightmare?

YES. Reasons access can/will be denied include but are not limited to the following: excessive profanities, obscene behavior, weapons, alcohol, and drugs.

Can we take photos inside your haunted house?

No. Photography and video recording are strictly prohibited. If you are a member of the media or similar industry, please contact us to arrange a private tour.

Will the actors physically touch us or can we touch the actors?

No, but there are a few exceptions. During regular tours, the actors will not touch you and you should not touch them. Incidental unintentional contact may occur in some scenes. The exceptions to this are the RIP Experience and the Captain’s Extreme Tour. In both cases, some intentional contact will most likely occur.

Do you have strobe lights, loud noises or fog and is there any heath concern?

We use many different forms of special effects including strobe lights, loud audio and fog. In some cases, special effects have been known to cause health issues such as epileptic seizures and asthmatic symptoms.

Do you offer a military discount?

Yes. We offer a military discount to military personnel when presented a Military ID at the ticket office. One discount per ID.

Are there restrooms available?

Yes. Portable restrooms are available in the parking area adjacent to the USS Nightmare.
